Reflective

The essay that taught me the most about writing was the argument proposal. In that essay, I used what I knew and focused on things that mattered. I enjoyed learning about my topic, binge drinking, and some better ways to solve this big social problem.

My writing goals for the future are simple: I want to be a better writer. I've never been much into reading and writing, but today, I can say I am ready to play around, write stuff down, see how it goes and this will definitely help me with the small language barrier I have since English is not my first language.  where I can just write freely. Writing about myself and my feelings is easy, but essays have always been hard for me. I didn’t enjoy writing essays in high school, but during this class, I realized that writing can actually be fun.

I have had some struggles, like with grammar. I’ve worked hard to improve it. In the argument proposal, I spent more time choosing better words and making my essay flow smoothly. For example, I looked for different ways to say "disease" and used those in my essay. I also found it tough to use commas, colons, and semicolons correctly. These punctuation marks are tricky, so I did a lot of research to learn how to use them properly.

Before this class, I had never written in true MLA format, so that was a surprise to me. I was really confused at first, especially with how to do the Works Cited page. But I did some research, asked my teacher many times, and figured it out. It also took me a while to learn how to do hanging indentations, but with the teacher and some of my classmates I got it down easily. What did I learn from writing the essay? That binge drinking can be managed, and the best way to do it is through a mix of third party help, and willpower.
